FAQs

How do I buy irises from you?

You can browse our online store here. We supply irises as bare root rhizomes, so they can only be delivered during the lifting season from late August to mid-October each year and there is a cut off date for orders (in mid October for Italy/EU and mid-September for the UK) after which any orders will be suppled the following year.  For further details see this page: Ordering.  For enquiries related to iris sales contact us on sales@casanovaumbria.eu

Can I visit the Display Garden?

Our display garden is only open to visitors during the iris bloom season.  We will publish dates and times here once it is clear when the peak of bloom is likely to be but in general this is around mid-May.

There are two ways you can visit:

We will be open to the general public during the published hours set out below, without charge, or the need to pre-book the visit.

Alternatively, groups can, by prior arrangement, pre-book visits during the bloom season outside the published public opening hours and for this there is a charge of 5 euros per person (minimum charge 100 Euros).

Public Opening Hours for the Garden in 2024

    Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 May 2024 from 10.30-12.00 and 14.00-17.00
    Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 May 2024 from 10.30-12.00 and 14.00-17.00
    Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 May 2024 from 10.30-12.00 and 14.00-17.00
and (subject to whether there are still irises in flower) Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 May 2024 from 10.30-12.00 and 14.00-17.00

You will be able to view thousands of irises in bloom and place orders for delivery or collection of bare root irises in August/September.  A limited number of varieties will be on sale in pots.  Please note that we are few in number and our work doesn’t stop when the irises are blooming, so whilst we welcome visitors, all visits will be strictly during the published opening hours and the gardens will shut to visitors when the iris season closes.

Can I holiday at Casa Nova?

There are two houses available for holiday rentals on the 30 acre Casa Nova estate: Casa dell’Ortolano (also known as the Garden House) and Il Casale (the Farm House), each with their own large garden and separate private pools. Casa del’Ortolano sleeps up to 9 in 4 ensuite bedrooms and is especially well suited to families with younger children. Il Casale sleeps up to 16 in 8 bedrooms (6 ensuite, including a separate apartment, and 2 other bedrooms sharing a bathroom). With three kitchens and three living areas, Il Casale is ideal for larger groups who want the flexibility to spend time together or do their own thing.  They both offer beautiful, airy, spacious accommodation equipped to the highest standards, with stunning views, a peaceful setting in unspoilt countryside, and the pleasures of picking fresh fruit and vegetables from the estate.  The two houses can also, if desired, be rented together to accommodate large groups of up to 25, who want to be within easy reach of one another whilst each still having their own privacy.

You can find out about each of the houses on the UmbrianEden website or, for even more in depth detail, browse the main CasaNovaUmbria website.  You’ll find lots of photos, detailed descriptions, prices, availability and instructions on how to make a booking.  As you’ll see from our guestbook, we have had rave reviews from our guests over the years.
